For nine years I blogged at Three Minutes to Nine about the things I love: faith, family, hymns, Scripture, devotionals, travel, and stories. It brought me great joy and stretched me as a writer. My last post was 18 months ago and since then I have been asking the Lord what my next assignment would be.

During those months I have been steadily making my way toward my 70th birthday. Here I am, just days until I reach that milestone. It’s not something I particularly look forward to, but I recognize aging is a normal part of life. And as I began to accept the naturalness of my own aging, my mind returned to blogging.

One day I told Tom, my husband, that I had decided to start a new blog and call it Little Old Lady-hood. He gave me a quizzical look but listened as I told him that it would not be about health, beauty, fashion, or home design, neither would it be a nostalgia blog. It would be a place to talk about the life we have here and now, and the things that matter. “Well, if that’s what you want to do, go for it. But you probably should change the name, because nobody will read it if you call it Little Old Lady-hood.” So was born Salt & Pepper.

What will you be served with Salt & Pepper? A monthly theme will be reflected in new blog posts each Monday and Thursday. Every month we’ll include a devotional, a Hymn of the Month, a “Her” of the Month (about a woman whose life or story relates to the topic), a guest blog, and several other related posts. At times I will add extras that will help Spice it Up such as tips, resources, short videos, quotes, cool photos—just because.

My purpose is to encourage, challenge, and bless senior women through Salt & Pepper. There will be lots of stories, lots of fun, and lots to help us grow. You thought you were done growing? I hope not. Nor are you finished touching others. You will be challenged to let God work in your life in new ways through hanging out at the Salt & Pepper blog. Are you ready for the adventure? Then join me, often, and let’s walk together. I look forward to sharing life with you on Salt & Pepper.
