Thursday afternoon’s sunshine and dramatic skies called us to explore. We headed to Skagit Valley, traveling back roads that were new to us. Clouds, some white and billowy, others gray and threatening, mesmerized me.

I couldn’t take my eyes off the clouds.

When I finally lowered my gaze I saw the wonderful farmlands that Skagit Valley is known for.

We came across a river and stood on the bridge to take some pictures. The river seemed shallow, but the terrain suggested rather that it was at very low tide.

Crossing the road to see where the river went, this is what we saw!

A marina like you might find in any city located on a body of water. But here it was in the farmlands. I counted only seven boats in this shallow waterway, and most of them looked like they were houseboats, not fishing boats or pleasure boats.

A rush of joy!

My mind didn’t know what to do with such an unexpected discovery. So I let my heart send my mind a rush of joy!

Something we never expected to see when we left the houseā€”a tiny marina in the farmlands! Even these days later I still feel the delight of this discovery.

Thanks for stopping by today. Go in joy!
