Can you think of any better example of “new” than a baby? I think not! We are moved by the beauty and the innocence of a newborn, locked in amazement that something so marvelous has just happened. We hold a wonderful work of God¹ in our arms.
Perhaps you have missed out on meeting and holding some newborns you have longed to see during the past several months. This video won’t quench that longing, but maybe it will bring you joy as you consider how stunning was that child’s creation. None but God alone could have ever come up with such a process of bringing new life into the world!
It is clear that the presenter, Alexander Tsairas, is in awe of the precision with which a baby’s body comes together. At the 7-minute mark on the video he begins talking about he development of the heart with wonder in his voice. Later he says, “The magic of the mechanisms inside each genetic structure saying exactly where that nerve cell should go — the complexity of these, the mathematical models of how these things are indeed done are beyond human comprehension.”
Yes, that is the only explanation to the mystery of birth. It is “beyond human comprehension.” We are the handiwork of God, his fingerprints most noticeable in a newborn.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
~ Psalm 139:14

¹I used the word “miracle” here but after I read Bob’s comment below, I changed it to “a wonderful work of God,” based on Psalm 139:14b. I encourage you to check out Bob’s and my conversation in the comments. Add your own thoughts on the subject if you’d like. I’d love to hear your responses.
This is an amazing video. I wonder if we can really call a new baby a miracle. To me, a miracle is rising from the grave, or making wine from water, or blind person getting sight; This is an example of our omnipotent God using His unfathonable engineering and architectural skills to make an incomprehensably complex human being. It’s the sort of thing that God does. He puts together something so complicated that works so perfectly and then says “it is good.” Perhaps that is why a God this smart and this capable would choose to love someone as stupid and incapable as me.
Hi Bob, you are right! We tend to call what we don’t understand a miracle, but that term should be reserved for something that only God could do that is outside the realm of normal daily life. The three xamples you gave go contrary to normal life, making them true miracles. We shake our heads in wonder at God’s “unfathomable engineering and architectural skills” that he uses to “make an incomprehensibly complex human being.” It’s just “the sort of thing that God does,” whether we can understand it or not.
Many years ago I met some people who taught me this: “Praise God that God is the God God is!” I’d say that applies here. As a matter of fact, I can’t think of any time that it would not apply.

Thank you Ginger for sharing this. Being adopted there have been so many questions in my mind. Psalms 139 is one of my chapters. God sure has imagination! Our bodies are wonderfully made by him. In my self so many times i wonder why? So many more questions i have to ask God when i get to see him. We are created in his image. I appreciate this again Ginger for sharing made me think more, more we are his workmanship, with so much love.
Thank you for your comment, Cynthia. I’m sure that the questions for someone who has been adopted would be difficult to deal with. But I’m glad that you know the truth of Psalm 139, which must greatly encourage you. We are indeed God’s workmanship, made with so much love—and he knows everything about us! Bless you, friend.

If God made each one of his human creations so incomprehensibly complex, in his own image, just because he loved us, how can we help but love him back? We can love ourselves because God is the God he is, and we can love others as he loves us. So simple, and so hard sometimes.
You are right, Joan——how could we not love God back when we grasp the depth of his love for us? And it is God’s love that compels us to love others, which exposes more people to God’s love. And who would not want to love God back when they see his love for them…
