Do you take your troubles to bed with you? That can be hard on your sleep!
I’ve got some good news: God wants us to hand over those troubles to Him. He’s big enough to carry our loads and manage our details.
The Bible gives us some insight into His ability to work on our behalf, even while we sleep. Here’s what He might say to a few of the people from the Bible:
“Adam, while you slept, I formed Eve from your rib and presented you with a helper.”
“Jacob, I wrestled with you through the night and changed your life.”
“Moses, while Egypt slept I came with my last plague and opened the way for my people to escape.”
“Samuel, I called you in the night and you responded.”
“David could have killed you, Saul, while you were sleeping, but he spared your life.”
“Daniel, I gave you dreams about the future so you could tell others.”
“Joseph, I sent my angel to tell you to take Mary as your wife.”
“I slept in a manger when I came to live among you.”
“I prayed in the Garden while you, my disciples, slept.”
“During a violent storm at sea, I slept with my head on a pillow, knowing that my Father was taking care of everything, even as I slept.”
If your concerns are robbing you of sleep, lay them at the feet of the faithful Jesus. You can trust him to handle them for you. Even while you sleep.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you (1 Pet 5:7).

Timely!
I sleep but do wrestle with those bigger concerns!
Not good REST!
Hi Sharon, what if you experimented with this every night for a week? Bring the issues you are carrying to Jesus and tell him you want him to keep them through the night. And in the morning you can ask him to give you back any of the issues he wants you to carry (pray about) for the day. Perhaps that would lead to better sleep and a clearer understanding of what he wants you to focus on each day.
Love you, friend.

Love you dear heart! 💞
Feel free to let me know what happens with the experiment!
Thank you Ginger for this beautiful message. You are a blessing. Iris
Iris, I’m glad you appreciate my blog. And I enjoy hearing of the ways the Lord is leading you with your writing. The Lord bless you as you continue to pursue him!

Ginger, I usually sleep very well, but my dreams are often very vivid. Sometimes disturbing dreams of what I may be worrying about. While I sleep quite heavy, thank the Lord, I’ve often wondered if its quality sleep due to the vivid dreams. Thanks for all the scriptures. One I often quote before I go to sleep is “The Lord giveth his beloved sleep”, and “I will lay me down and sleep in peace, for you alone Lord, make me dwell in safety”. I don’t remember where those scriptures are, but I did memorize them. Thanks for these beautiful reminders of God’s promises. Iris
Iris, do you think the Lord is showing you things through your vivid dreams or are they more wild and chaotic? (That’s how most of mine are!) Perhaps you could experiment each night for a week with offering your concerns to the Lord before you go to sleep, reminding him that you know he can care for them while you sleep. I don’t think that’s a magic formula, but it might be that he would give you in exchange a quiet mind through the night and quality sleep. I’d be interested to know how it goes if you try the experiment.

I wish you well, Iris, and look forward to hearing back from you.
