This is part three of a series on reading the Bible.You can read part 1 here and part 2 here. The Spirit-breathed Word of God speaks to us, revealing truth and transforming our lives (see 2 Timothy 3:16). But sometimes we benefit from additional resources. Here are some you might find helpful:

Bible Gateway

You will find  a searchable online Bible in over 150 versions and 50 languages at Bible Gateway. If you don’t know where a verse you want is found, you can query a few words and Bible Gateway will find it for you. You can read the passage in different versions. Bible Gateway is available  as a website on your computer or an app on your phone or other devices. Besides my Bible, it is my go-to for searching the Scripture and reading it or listening to it being read. You will find her a number of other resources to help you understand and share God’s Word.

There are numerous Bible study websites and apps. To find others, try querying something like “Bible study resources.”

Scripture Engagement

One of the resources offered by Bible Gateway is Scripture Engagement. According to their website, it offers “a set of practical exercises and activities you can undertake to interact more meaningfully with the Bible”. Our Daily Bread University

For 83 years Our Daily Bread has preached the good news of Jesus. Over the years they have added strategic ministries to help people grow in their faith, including an online university! If you’d like to go deeper in your walk with the Lord, you may want to check out Our Daily Bread University, which offers many online courses of study including Old Testament, New Testament, church history, and world missions. The nearly 200 class offerings are not part of a degree program, but will enlighten and equip followers of Jesus to know him better and love him more.

The Bible Project

The Bible Project is dedicated to “helping people experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus.” This is done through animated videos, Bible studies. podcasts, and a blog. Their video library includes an overview of every book of the Bible, a series on how to read the Bible, and videos on themes that appear throughout the Bible, to name a few. By exploring the website and watching several videos I suspect it is designed for young adults, but I found it both enjoyable and informative. Go ahead and check it out here.

The Word Hand

Created by the Navigators, “The Word Hand Illustration is an easy-to-remember tool highlighting five methods of learning from the Bible.” The illustration assigns each finger of the hand one of the five ways we learn from the Bible—hearing, reading, studying, memorizing, and meditating. It is a simple visual to remind us of what we can do to take God’s truth into our lives, And a printable version is available to share with others.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to check out these resources. Some may prove to be a real blessing to you as you go deeper with the Lord. Maybe exploring one of these websites  will bring to mind a young person or a neighbor. Why not share what you find with that person as a way of helping them go deeper too.
